His treasury secretary Scott Bessent

I don’t recall knowing about Trump’s treasury secretary before his appointment, so I’m impressed, if not surprised, by how competent and comfortable he seems in a political position and then how nobody mentions that he’s publicly gay with a husband and children. (Pete Buttigieg was such a disappointment that I feared no other gay man would have a cabinet position for a decade.) Although Bessent was a close associate of George Soros, collaborating on the Black Wednesday collapse of the British pound, nobody appears to mention that discreditable episode either.

Since Bessent has worked only in the money-moving industries to be reportedly now worth over a half-billion dollars, he must have decided from an earlier age that he wanted to make a mountain of money. Tall and handsome in. his mid-60s, he appears to have come from Central Casting.

Charmed has his economic and political life been so far.
